When designing custom bolt action rifles, I work mostly on Mauser style actions as I believe this style is best for hunting. Mauser style actions provide a large extractor that positively removes a case in any condition. I use mostly Mauser, CZ and Winchester Model 70 CRF actions. I also have created guns on Remington, Dakota, Ruger and other rifle companies’ actions. If you have an action in mind, give me a call so we can work some of the details out. Whether you are thinking about a new varmint gun or a new big bore rifle, I can easily access the reamer if I do not have it on hand.
When building a rifle and before I even think about barreling an action, I make sure that the action is squared, faced, trued, lapped. If necessary, I will recut the threads where the barrel will be screwed into the action. Because of the work I put into the actions first, these guns turn out to be great shooters.
Work does not stop here, though; work goes into the custom scope bases that I created and also the stock work of glass-bedding the stock and installing double cross bolts on many of the big bore rifles. When all this is completed, only then will I declare the rifle fit to send to you.
